public money or resources .  It states the planning department will work with the committee and it looks like meetings are held at the planning department which would make it sound that public money or resources are used in some form.
The original plan was to have the trail part of downtown, however, it looks like that plan has been changed.  Now that the plan is not part of the downtown area wouldn’t it be better for resources to be used for items in the downtown area?

  2. Aloha GY:
I’m not sure what “public money intended for projects in the Downtown Hilo area” you are talking about since there are none, at least that I/we know of.
Please let us know if there are any public funds we are not aware of and please be reassured that any funds allocated for Downtown that we (DIA and EnVision Downtown Hilo 2025 VisionKeepers) coordinate or develop will absolutely only fund projects in the Downtown area.

It states there are 3 segments to this project, of which only a portion of 1 is located in the Downtown Hilo Project area as defined by the update plan.  It would be interesting to know if any public money intended for projects in the Downtown Hilo area is being diverted to projects outside the designated area.
