Zero Waste Plan for Downtown
We are blessed to have a community committed to protecting the environment and creating models for positive change. Downtown Hilo is the perfect place to implement waste management strategies that reduce the amount of trash going to the landfill. East Hawaii sends 11,000 tons of food scraps to the landfill each year. A lot of this gets generated in Hilo. There’s also paper, glass, cardboard. . . all kine useful stuffs going to the dump every day. We can’t wait for the County government to figure this out! Let’s have our own plan for capturing resources and creating more, not less, value!
