A Pie Bakery
I bet Hilo has some great pie makers who can’t wait to start a new business! Wouldn’t it be nice to have a bakery in Downtown Hilo that just sells homemade pies – deep dish 9” pies for under $10.00. How about – pumpkin, custard, and apple – to start. Maybe a special ‘pie of the week’ on Fridays; of course, you might need to special order for a little higher price. What a great omiyage (gift) to take with you when you visit your family or friends! Honolulu has lots of them – Saint-Germain, Dee Lite, and Lee’s Bakery in Chinatown. This will save me hand-carrying pies on the airplane from Honolulu to Hilo. On the other hand…I might still be hand-carrying pies from Hilo to Honolulu! My special ‘pie of the week’? Strawberry Rhubarb What would your special ‘pie of the week’ be? Any suggested names for this new bakery? We can’t have a Pie Bakery without Bethany’s Decadent Dark Chocolate Cheesecake.
As a side note – can the pie bakery be integrated into the Intimate Live Music Venue also posted as an entry? What can be better than listening to great music and enjoying some homemade local pies!
Wow, some great names and ono pies! Dreaming is permitted…. what about a space with a certified kitchen where a Community Pie Bakery is created that collectively brings all of Hilo’s great pie makers together in one place.
